In addition to the Saturday early-morning runs at Terry Hershey Park, KatyFit also encourages members to find time during the busy work week to go out for what we call 'homework' runs. These are typically of short duration, and only meant to keep you tuned up in between the longer weekend group runs. By default, we suggest that members run on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays - keeping Friday free to prepare for the Saturday run, and Sunday free to recover from it. But this is only a suggestion, and if other days or times fit better into your individual schedules, then by all means cater to your own needs. Our only suggestion is to be careful, and be safe. Since peer-pressure is always a great motivator, a few of the KatyFit Coaches get together to sort of 'host' group runs at 6:30pm on Tuesday & Thursday evenings. This is a great way to meet the coaches, meet your fellow runners, and stay in shape. Group runs are typically followed up by 15 minutes or so of light stretching to aid in preventing running injuries.
The majority of our Tuesday runs will start at the George Bush Park FFPS Soccer Fields located at 20150 Westheimer Parkway (1/4 mile East of Fry Rd). Park by the Rest Rooms. We leave on schedule, so plan on showing up a few minutes early. When the days grow shorter in October, the runs will move to JR Hatch Park (aka: Cop Shop) located at 17525 Katy Freeway between Barker Cypress & Park Ten.
To add some spice to your runs, we'll venture out of the park and join other Katy runners for some socialization on Thursday evenings. World of Beer hosts a weekly social run at 6:30pm on Thursdays, located just a few minutes away in La Centerra (HW99 @ Cinco Ranch Blvd). Add to that, Luke's Locker hosts YORUNGA (Run then Yoga) the 3rd Tuesday of each month, and we'll be venturing out to socialize with them. Heck, sometimes one of our coaches even invites us to their house to run and then socialize afterwards.
